About This Quote

It has been said that the virtuous man contents himself with dreaming that which the wicked man does in actual life. The virtuous man knows the difference between right and wrong but does it anyway; while the wicked man does what he knows to be wrong yet he thinks that he is doing good. Sometimes we know that we should not do something or that we ought to do something and we still do it. This is often because we think we should not do it but we don’t want to seem weak, even if we know we should not do it. The virtuous man will not pretend to be a virtuous man when he is not.
